IRIS in UkraineIRIS provides the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) with advisory and implementation services to the USAID Mission to Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova. IRIS is assisting the Ukrainian government and people in its transition to a market economy. IRIS's primary task is to coordinate and provide technical advice to develop the legal and regulatory environment for commercial transactions. IRIS is providing background research and analysis to USAID and the Ukrainian government on the existing legal and regulatory framework and provides expertise to further develop this framework. IRIS is working with government counterparts to draft and review commercial legislation, and develop new legal structures. IRIS also organizes legislative and technical working groups including professionals from government, legal and financial sectors, and other stakeholders with interest and expertise in legal reform. IRIS holds seminars, workshops, and study tours for training and educational purposes. IRIS coordinates with other technical assistance providers in Ukraine and the region, such a USAID, TACIS, World Bank, Canadian, British, German, and Council of Europe funded projects, to foster collaboration and cooperation.
